Philipp Eden's face through the grand piano, while playing

Philipp’s solo work is rooted in a personal and ongoing relationship with the piano.

Using preparations, inside-piano techniques, objects and found sounds, his music unfolds through improvisation — a continuous process of listening, discovery and reflection.

Guided by curiosity and playfulness, he explores the tactile and physical sides of sound. Each performance is shaped by the space, its acoustics and the unpredictability of interaction — whether with objects, recordings, or the audience. For him, improvisation is not just a method, but a way of being; open to chance, intuition, and the ephemeral.

His work reflects his interest in time, presence, perception, and the shifting boundaries between body, environment, and instrument. He sees the piano not just as a fixed instrument, but as something to be continually reimagined — a place for exploration, memory, and play.

He has performed at venues dedicated to experimental and improvised music, including Cave12 in Geneva, Bee Flat in Bern, and the Immersive 3D Audio Festival in Zürich.
